Online Class Opportunity – Harvard’s CS50x

edx-logo-headerCoral is going to take Harvard’s Introduction to Computer Science through edX. It’s a massive online open course (MOOC), and while Anchorage Programming Workshop is not officially attached to edX or Harvard, we’d be happy to set up study sessions, if others are interested in taking the course. It runs all year, with 9 problem sets and a final project; the final due date for everything is December 31, 2014, though they have “suggested” dates for each of the problem sets. It covers a wide—and useful!—array of topics.

The Harvard Honor Code allows discussing problem sets with other students, so we’re OK there. People can even team up for the final project, if they want.

If you want to take the class, sign up with edX. And if you also want to join a local study group, leave a comment on this post. It looks like we’re meeting from 2-4pm one Saturday per month, starting February 1st.
